Called today to request 1 dose of oral flea medication (Comfortis) and was told by receptionist they would have it ready for me to pickup in the afternoon. Went to pickup and was told since I had not had a full price paid visit since late 2015 they would not dispense the 19 dollar single dose. Look I get it from a risk perspective if this is your policy in situations like prescribing a strong medication such as antibiotics without a recent checkup but cmon Sheffield this is a low-risk common remedy for fleas. Given our dog is a "special needs" bulldog who since 2015 has been regularly seen at Central Ohio's best vet for bulldogs (Beechwold in Columbus) I would have hoped my simple request today could have been worked out by calling them to ensure his medical status as being current. Bottom line sad that my home community vet who I have given business in the past wouldn't provide what I needed and wasted my time to boot by not advising me of their policy on the phone vs what I was told making a physical trip to their office. I see today's scenario, not as risk aversion to my pet but a maximization of profit and poor customer service. Local pet owners beware if you want to get simple ad-hoc services & have not paid the annual tithe.
